Looking ahead in 2018 – New Year Members catch up with a brew and biscuits!

IT WAS great to catch up with members to talk about our priorities for 2018!

I arranged two sessions – In the first session we were joined by Cllr Jean Stretton, Leader of Oldham Council where we discussed the priorities facing our borough and how MPs can add value nationally to the work being done locally. In addition to Brexit and the Budget this is an important year as we approach the local elections in May too!

In the second session we were joined by Angela Rayner MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Education. We discussed the challenges facing our country across a range of issues. It was a great opportunity to discuss Labour in opposition and how we hold the government to account.

I had great feedback and I will be holding quarterly meetings to ensure that I do the job the members of my constituency have sent me to Parliament to do!
