LAST FRIDAY, along with Councillor Jean Stretton, Members of Oldham Youth Council and members of Regional Young Fabian and Fabian groups I spoke at ‘Innovation in Local Government’ – Part of the Nationwide Young Fabians Local Government Events Series at Hack Oldham.

The event is part of a series of events taking place across the country that will feed into a UK wide research project that the Young Fabians are leading on into innovation in local government and the need to appeal to young voters.
As an Executive Member of The Fabians it was great to be part of the event. The session was an Interactive Q&A with me making opening remarks on how Local Government is innovating in response to the pressure of austerity.
Leader of Oldham Council also gave great examples of how Oldham is working in innovative ways. The Fabians are looking to the Local Government Association to sponsor the piece of work – I look forward to reading it once they have completed the exercise.
