Local parks, lanes and country parks are being used as dumping grounds by rogue developers, landlords and dodgy waste firms. New proposals announced by this Labour government canโt come quick enough: 20 hours of community service for fly-tippers to pick up their own rubbish Fines of up to ยฃ300 Courts given powers to punish illegalContinue reading “Tackling the scourge of fly-tipping”

Ukrainian delegation to Parliament
It was a pleasure to meet with Ukrainian MPs visiting the Parliament this week with the Inter-Parliamentary Association as part of their delegation to the UK, many of whom we met during our cross party delegation to Kyiv a few weeks ago. President Zelenskyy was also in Parliament to address MPs and Lords at theContinue reading “Ukrainian delegation to Parliament”

He served many ministerial offices including as Minister of State for Local Government too, and he was a great advocate for councils and councillors. My thoughts are withContinue reading “Passing of Phil Woolas”

Food security is national security
Thatโs why in the Commons yesterday I pressed the Leader of the House for time to debate how we expand farmer-owned co-operatives here in the UK. There are around 430 agricultural co-ops in the UK, with 150,000 farmer members and nearly ยฃ10bn in annual turnover, helping deliver high-quality food produced to some of the highestContinue reading “Food security is national security”
Oldham event with the team at Manchester Airport later this month!

With our local council being a shareholder and the airport being such an important institution to our city-region & the North more widely, it is rightContinue reading “Oldham event with the team at Manchester Airport later this month!”
