A further £432 million to tackle rough sleeping is welcome, extending support beyond March 2027.
Greater Manchester has shown what can be achieved through programmes like Housing First and A Bed Every Night. We need to build on that work and ensure everyone has somewhere safe and secure to live.
But ending rough sleeping is only part of the challenge. In Oldham, I’ve been raising the issue of children living in temporary accommodation. We cannot accept families spending months or years without a permanent home.
We need more genuinely affordable and social homes, better housing standards and action to prevent homelessness before it happens.
Everyone deserves a decent, secure home.
