This is a real win for working people who rely on their own vehicles to do their jobs like nurses, care workers, and self-employed tradespeople.
A campaign I pushed as a constituency MP from the backbenches, with the support of UNISON and the RAC Foundation, helped secure the initial increase, backdated to April. Now, following the Budget, we’ve secured the long-term commitment too.
Mileage rates had been frozen for 15 years, leaving too many people out of pocket just for getting on with their jobs. It was only right that we acted.
Proud to have played my part in getting this over the line. Great news for the millions who rely on their vehicles for work. ![]()
