Statement during the debate on the Immigration & Asylum Bill

The Home Office is moving quickly to change the law and remove the legal block to deport evil Rochdale Grooming Gang ringleader Shabir Ahmed.

I welcome these efforts and ask that we see both pace and look at the option of recalling him back to prison pending deportation – in the end the Parole Board determined he wasn’t safe to be released on three separate occasions. Public safety must come first.
